Collective Critique: A Communal Portfolio Review Facilitated by Vernon T. Bateman

Wednesday, July 30
12:00 – 5:00 pm
Gallery Forty Two
42 E. Washington St.

Join a new caring, critical, and forward-looking community of artists and cultural producers for this day-long collective critique facilitated by Vernon T. Bateman and others. This opportunity is open to all artistic and cultural workers regardless of specialization, credentials, or perceived level of “expertise.” As Vernon says, “art is the imperfections.” There are only 20 spots available, so be sure to reserve your seat today!

At this special event, you and your selected project will receive sustained engagement and Vernon and other artists, theorists, and historians will give individualized feedback to your project as a whole and the specific pieces it encompasses. Not only will you leave with a clearer sense of where you’re headed and how you’ll get your work there–whether it be the story you need to tell, the silence you need to help others hear, or a feeling you need to visualize. Moreover, during the day you’ll have the opportunity to slightly edit your project in response to the feedback you receive.

Because we want to ensure there is ample time to discuss in detail each participant and their works, we ask you limit what you bring to either 10 pieces or, if you are working in a format that collective critique doesn’t traditionally engage, about 10-20 minutes worth of material.
